Follow your ❤️

Believe it or not, this St. Louis girl is spending her second Valentine’s Day in South Florida! Little did I know, when I was sitting on the beach last February with a grocery store rotisserie chicken and $7 bottle of wine — that a door would open, leading me back to this very place.

All I had to do was follow my heart.

FSMW Spring Training

I was working on assignment in Jupiter, FL, shooting commercials for FOX Sports Midwest for the upcoming Cardinals Spring Training season. It was a fun job and an awesome assignment, but I knew I was in need of the next step in my life and my career.

I always tell people that, most often than not, you know when it’s time to make a change. Your gut and your heart will tell you.

A month later I began doing work for the St. Louis Cardinals on a regular basis. My position with them had grown from a freelance project here and there, to working for them daily. Before I knew it, I had my dream job with my hometown team.

I loved everything I was doing for them. So when I found out I landed a position with CBS Sports as a host/anchor for their online content, I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my career to-date.

Stay with the team and town I love ? – Or – open myself up to a new opportunity?

Once I listened to my heart, the answer was clear. Before I knew it, a week later I had moved my entire life down to Ft. Lauderdale, FL — 1,200 miles away from my friends and family.

It wasn’t easy to leave what I had grown to love, but I took a leap of faith. So now, exactly one year later, I’m in the same place that I spent last Valentine’s Day — yet in a whole new world of possibility and adventure.

So on this V-Day, don’t only think about your quest for love but about opening up your ❤️…

… you never know where it may lead you by this time next year.
