Teryn’s Tampa Trip!

Views, brews and crews. Tampa, FL. — specifically St. Petersburgh, has a hopping craft brewery, restaurant and bar scene and I had the advantage of a local showing me around this past weekend.

My last trip to Tampa was on the Florida Swing this past PGA TOUR season with CBS Sports for the Valspar Championship. It was great to go back and visit friends, this time purely for fun. Unfortunately my excuse for this weekend trip was due to Hurricane Matthew, but I made the most of it, nonetheless.

My first night I stayed in the Tampa suburb of Bradenton. A cute budding town just south of the city and north of Sarasota. Lakewood Main Street is a fun quaint area with local shops and restaurants. A perfect place to have drinks and dinner outside along the cobblestone street.

But if are you ever in the Tampa area you MUST check out St. Pete! The city on the Gulf Coast peninsula has gorgeous views at every turn and a growing craft brewery scene. Before we hit the craft brew circuit we got lunch at Locale Market — a fun farm-to-table marketplace, where you can get a fresh meal cooked right in front of you. (Not to mention, the salted caramel ice cream was fantastic!)

Each brewery we stopped at after that had it’s own personality and flavor. It was fun to see this part of St. Pete’s culture and I highly recommend checking out the stops we made:

In addition, if you are wanting a gorgeous sunset view with your cocktail, then The Canopy rooftop bar is your place. (View pictured at the top of this blog post.)

Several restaurants are within walking distance after you watch the sun go down. We stopped in at Bella Brava and their Wood-Grilled Chicken Picatta was delicious!

But if you really want to mingle with the locals, St. Pete’s First Friday downtown block party will get you up close and personal with the party scene in St. Pete.

I always have a great time when I head to the Tampa area and I am so thankful for my wonderful friends who always welcome a visit. Despite the unfortunate circumstances of why I was there, I’m very lucky to not have been affected by the hurricane.

My thoughts remain with all those that lost their homes or suffered significant damage in the aftermath of the storm. Again, if you’d like to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew, the Red Cross has been providing shelters and disaster relief in the area.
