Little details can make all the difference on your wedding day, not to mention, they are fun to create! Golf is a big part of our lives, but we didn’t want to go over-the-top with our love of the game — so we gave our guests golf-inspired favors to remind them of their favorite two-some 😉
If you remember, we did some of our engagement photos at the famous TPC Sawgrass — our home-course in Florida. We chose to have our wedding back in our hometown of St. Louis and, in an effort to mix things up a bit, we opted to do our rehearsal dinner at a golf course — rather than our wedding. (We are at golf courses all the time! — we wanted to do something unique for our ceremony and reception.)
Guests were treated with a favor box full of my favorite candy — Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, in special white wrappers — and golf balls with our logo thanks to our friends at Taylor Made. Even our guests that didn’t play golf commented on how thoughtful the favors were!
Coolie cups may be tacky for some, but where I come from, they are a wedding staple! I thought it would be fun to make me a golfing bride and so we printed the same slogan we used to announce our engagement on them. (“FOREver” to combine the popular golfing term “FORE!” which someone yells as a heads up when a ball is coming in the direction of another person and, of course, “forever” to symbolize our union.) We placed baskets of koozies (as we call them in my hometown) at each of the bars during the cocktail hour and reception.
Last week I posted about how I gave my bridesmaids customized St. Louis Cardinals jerseys as gifts to wear while we got ready, my husband also incorporated golf into his groomsman gifts. Mitchell gave the guys a Masters golf towel, TPC Sawgrass bag tags with their names on them and matching silver ties and paisley pocket squares to wear with their tuxes.
The balance was perfect! We were able to have a fun, classy wedding and also incorporate our favorite sports through our gifts, favors and rehearsal dinner venue.
How did you incorporate your favorite sports or teams into your wedding day? Let me know in the comments below or give me a shout on Instagram!
This month I’m pivoting from #TtimeTuesday to #WeddingWednesday. I’ll continue to post on #WeddingWednesday and reveal more elements from our big day throughout the coming weeks!
